Write to the desk

One form, four fields. Everything that reaches the desk is read by an editor, and everything that can be verified gets an answer.

The desk keeps no published address and no public phone line. That is not secrecy; it is a way of keeping one queue instead of six. Send the document, the docket number or the link in the message field, and say what you think it shows. A named file with a date is worth more than three paragraphs describing it.

Corrections go to the front of the queue. If a filing on the wire got a number wrong, a name wrong or a procedural step wrong, send the file name and the passage. A correction is entered in the register with the date it was made, not the date it was noticed.

What helps

  • A document, or a link that opens
  • The date of the action
  • A docket or bill number
  • The name of the office involved
  • A phone number only if a call is needed
  • A clear ask: check, correct, or consider

Message form

Four fields

No address is published. Replies come from the desk, not an inbox.

Response

The desk replies within three working days when a reply is warranted. A message that needs no answer still gets logged. Syndication requests take longer, because the terms are negotiated one newsroom at a time.

The wire cannot give legal advice, cannot confirm whether a document is authentic over the form, and cannot promise confidentiality to anyone who has not spoken with an editor first.

Note

All America Wire does not accept sponsored submissions, paid placements or guest essays. A message offering any of those will not be filed, and the desk will not reply to it.
